Shannon, MN-NP, IBCLC
I am a Vancouver based Nurse Practitioner, with over 17 years experience in the nursing field. My early career was rooted in birthing and postpartum care, where I worked as a registered nurse and lactation consultant in the hospital. As a mother of three breastfed children, I deeply understand the challenges families can face with breastfeeding. I am passionate about empowering parents and infants by fostering a healthy and supportive breastfeeding relationship.
An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a health care professional who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding and providing lactation support.
Board Certified Lactation Consultants are required to pass a rigorous exam that demonstrates the ability to provide knowledgeable and comprehensive lactation and breastfeeding care.
Attainment of IBCLC credentials indicates that the lactation consultant will work together with mothers to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems, collaborate with other health care team members to provide comprehensive care, encourage a social environment that supports breastfeeding and educate families and health care professionals.
* Please note, while I will bring with me a varied, wealth of knowledge in the nursing field, visits will focus on my expertise as a lactation consultant.
