Breastfeeding Support & Areas of Expertise

I provide compassionate, evidence-based support for a wide range of breastfeeding and infant feeding concerns. This includes help with positioning and latch, low or oversupply of milk, engorgement, sore or damaged nipples, breast pain, mastitis, and thrush. I also support families navigating challenges such as inverted or flat nipples, breast surgery (including augmentation or reduction), twins or multiples, and premature infants.

Many families also reach out for support with concerns like slow weight gain, cluster feeding, breast refusal, expressing and storing breast milk, breastfeeding older babies, returning to work, and weaning. I also provide guidance for feeding after tongue or lip tie release, as well as general tongue and lip tie concerns.

Every family’s journey is different, and care is always tailored to your individual needs.

What you can Expect During a Lactation Consultation

Lactation consultations typically last 60–75 minutes and take place in your home. Each visit is calm, supportive, and tailored to your family’s needs.

During your consultation, I will:

  • Complete a thorough assessment of you and your baby to understand your concerns and feeding goals
  • Observe a feeding and gently support positioning and latch as needed
  • Weigh your baby if helpful for assessment
  • Provide guidance on pumping techniques and equipment use when relevant

Following your visit, I may share helpful resources to support you moving forward.

What to Prepare for Your Consultation

To help make the most of your visit, it may be helpful to have the following available:

  • Your baby’s recent weights, if available (preferably in grams or kilograms)
  • An idea of how many wet and dirty diapers your baby has had in the past 24–48 hours
  • Any questions or concerns you would like to discuss during the visit
